Los Samaritans!

From the Sonoran Desert at the U.S. Mexico border, Shura Wallin of the  Green Valley Samaritans, brought to us the story of many emigrants that will never have the opportunity to see their lovers one again and others may will never try to cross the border and others still dreaming with the American dreaming in hope to give to themselves and their families a better life.

La virgin de Guadalupe. Where people in the border find a comfort to their destiny, the creation of human being in the creation of Mesoamerica through different groups and ethical backgrounds, the history of every human being migration that is happening in all over the world, she is talks about the experience on being in the desert.

The importance to know where you are that most of the migrants do not know, they are in the hand of the coyotes who only look for the money and sometimes this poor people find them death, the coyotes had asked for their relatives cell phones and call them saying that they have their children, father, mother or any member of them family and they ask for money to give them back. When the coyote does this is because this person is allred dead.  If they can not continue; they are left behind and promised that someone will come to help them, what do not happened so often. As an example: Rozeline, 14 years old try to cross the bother with her 10 years old brother. She got with a group of people to go to U.S. to get together with her mom. The coyote promised to send help when she could not continue. Her brother wanted to stay with her but she did not let him. The Samaritan funded her body later.

They founded days later a body of 62 years old men. The called his soon to tell his death and he neither did not know his father was coming back to US after leaving going back home. She has many objects left behind from the migrants that meaning a lot to her organization, since this people is coming to this country looking for a better life.

One day Christophe and his mom, Americans were going to a picnic on thanksgiving. When Christophe’s mom lost the car control, Manuel, a migrant who did crossed the bother so Christophe in the road with a dog, Manuel went to Christophe without speak any English. Manuel spend ed all night with Christophe and his mom who died in the morning. Without think Manuel whet out to look for help. Christophe as at this time orphan, since his father had commented suicide few months ago and now his mom were also dead.

For over years she has stories of death and love brought for this illegal immigrates who came to yours heart asking for help and love for and an opportunity to have a better life.

Be nice in traffic!

I have been frequently put in danger by my fellow cyclists as by the motorists near me. I am not a fast biker, so I try to ride predictably and make it easy for others to pass. I signal. I make myself visible. I pay attention. I stop for pedestrians.
I do not get up in the morning thinking how make life miserable for people in my way. I just want to bike to school. But my fellow cyclists seem to need to pass me in heavy traffic under an underpass, pass me on the right in a narrow bike lane in rush hour, and they never, I mean never, say anything like "Coming on your left." Besides the cars that came to the bike line or passé to the right without any sine. I mean no sine. Came in my left and drop in front me to the right.   They stop and use the line as parking or only stop there to talk with friends or something.
As more people bike, the bike lanes will have a variety of riders with different capabilities. We will all need to respect one to another. Sorry to say the frontier is over. It is not the Tour de France; it is a commuter trail, slow, crowded and annoying. Get a grip. Be polite. It won not kill you. To pay attention to your fellow bikers
or to who is making a difference to the world, not using one more car to polluting the air.

Back in US

Hello my bloggers. I am back from Brazil. It was a wonderful time with my family and friends. I will be preparing a presentation about my community in Brazil, with pictures.

However I am back to the US with more questions. I believe that you all still working in your projects.

Here it is my first question:

Is it aloud to the bikers to use the walker line to go across the street?

We as bikers should have more laws to make our live better. Besides that we should tell ours bike’s friends that they should not abandon their bikers on the streets, because it is taking the bike lot.

Let’s Support our workers

For the past two months, over 300 Shaw’s workers have been on strike at Shaw’s warehouse 30 miles away in Methuen. This weekend, the protest came to the MIT Shaw’s on Sidney Street. Picketers in Cambridge handed out flyers in front of the store and asked patrons to boycott Shaw’s until the strike is resolved.
Warehouse workers at the Methuen Distribution Center have been on strike since March 8, after workers rejected a new contract that would have significantly increased their health care costs. They voted 228-8 to go on strike. On April 1, Shaw’s cut off health care coverage for the 300 striking workers.
In order to maintain normal functions, Shaw’s has begun hiring permanent replacement workers. Chong says the decision to hire new workers was difficult but necessary.
This is not fear!
Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick has also become involved in the issue. In a letter addressed to the CEO of Supervalu Craig Herkert and the President of the UFCW Union Local 791 Russel Regan, he urged the two parties to come to a resolution. Patrick encouraged further communication between the two groups.

How I want to be remembered when I die!

As Sister Judith Brun, I would like to be remembered by my actions as a art therapist helping people to recover their lives.
Hi are some words I would like people saying in mu funeral;
Kalinka is and will always be in our hearts.
She gave her time to helping everybody around her. She dreamed always of a better world, full of opportunities for everybody, regardless of class, race, gender, or sexual orientation. Kalinka was an excellent wife, sister, daughter, and mother. Her many children -- Buba, Iris, Oya, and all the rest -- became as strong and capable as they were because they were lucky enough to have the constant love and affection of a devoted mother.
Kalinka gave her life to all who were in need. She never put down anyone and still was able to rise to great heights. She touched everyone she met with her words, but more importantly with her actions. She was never afraid to say "I love you," and to turn those words into deeds.
Her passing leaves all who had the opportunity to know her with great sadness, but also with eternal memories of grace and goodness.

To Senator Scoot Brown!

Dear Senator Scott Brown,

Congratulation on driving your truck to Washington!

My name is Kalinka. I am a student at Bunker Hill Community College in Charleston, MA. I had the pleasure to follow you in your campaign for the United States Senate seat. My husband who is a Democrat was impressing seeing you as a Republican so close to the people. However I do not vote here. I am one of the 938,590 immigrants in Massachusetts which is approximately 14.5% of the state that you now represent.

I write this letter to tell you a story of a friend of mine.

He came to the United States from Nepal not to make money or to become a resident here, but looking for a better educational opportunity that could permit him to return to his country and support his family, and the economy of his country. Unfortunately he does not have many sources to support his education here. He is working illegally as many international students do to pay for his classes. He has been working in three different jobs to save money and pay for next semester. He succeeded in getting a note from a doctor giving him permission to reduce the required number of classes to support his student visa. This enabled him to work in his three jobs without losing his visa, and become one more illegal immigrant.

For people like my friend, I come to you to say that the United States like many other developed countries, should give more opportunities to international students who are looking for more opportunities to build a better life for them, their countries, and the world through the education that United States can give them. Education can be a good start to solving the problem of migration. If international students can have a good education to go back their countries and strengthen the education there, they can support a strong education in their own countries, it will not be necessary to migrate to find a better way to support their lives.

I have been in the United States almost two years and I have learned a lot about education system. I can say that education is the best product that United States has to offer but it is not available to everybody around the world. As our ancestries who came to this land looking for a better life. I hope you can understand my idea and become the difference for many immigrants in your states.

What about my friend? I do not know. He became so busy working that he does not have time to meet me, let alone to dedicate to his studies.

Sincerely,

Kalinka Caldas Premawardhana

My American Hero?

I can give many example of American hero. However I selected one that attracted my attention. Her name is Susan B. Anthony. She was a revolutionary woman in her time. She was arrested, victim of masculine ridicule, but never surrender to her enemies or people who thought different of her.

To The Open Mind!

I would like to introduce to my friends a example of Brasilia singer.
His name is Cazuza.

Cazuza (4 April 1958-7 July 1990) was a bisexual Brazilian composer and singer.
I this time was really difficult to be an open homosexual. Cazuza was climed by Caetano Velozo, other great Brazilian sing, the greatest Brazilian poet of his generation. However in this same time he discovered that he was infected with the AIDS. In this he decided start his Solo career and open the mind of millions of people about the homosexually and prevention of HIV through his autistics expressions, both musical and lyrically.
Wikipedia
In 1989, he admitted publicly for the first time that had AIDS and released his last album: Burguesia. Cazuza was openly bisexual but was not active in the gay movement. However his opennes about being a person with AIDS helped to change public perceptions and attitudes about HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment.

If you have the opportunity to watch the movie " Cazuza-O Tempo Nao Para" ( Cazuza - The time doesn"t stop.
Cazuza - o tempo não para / Cazuza - Time Doesn't Stop`

LGBT?

I read about the history of the LGBT movement and I still having questions!
In my consensual thought, since I was in my adolescence I know that people have different option with their partners. I will never understand why people still fight through the nature. Homosexualism is the kind of action that you can find in the world animal. The demonstration of love between men it was normal and health in Greek history.

Being a gay is not been sick or psychologically confuse. According to Wikipedia being gay means," The term gay was originally used, until well into the mid-20th century, primarily to refer to feelings of being 'carefree', 'happy', or 'bright and showy'; it had also come to acquire some connotations of 'immorality' as early as 1637. The term later began to be used in reference to homosexuality, in particular, from the early 20th century, a usage that may have dated prior to the 19th century. In modern English, gay has come to be used as an adjective, and occasionally as a noun, that refers to the people, practices, and culture associated with homosexuality". I can talk and talk about something that I still trying understand why people disagree with. I know people that chose to be a homosexual and they are very happy. May they are more happy that the person who chose be a heterosexual. You can see in the Milk story, the motive of his killer to kill him was because hi could not assume his homosexuality and hi could not see a person who did, bee happy and successful. Beside this I am leaving same other result of my research in the internet.

"aaaand now for the heavy stuff. The real reason I'm writing this blog is to hopefully help people understand the situation of life. Not for pity or sympathy or love or support. Just understanding. I am a Frum Jew. I have alway been a Frum Jew. And With Hashem's help, I will continue to be a Frum Jew.
The challenge Hashem gave me is that I am not attracted to women, I am attracted to men. Unfortunately, the Torah tells us not to be with men. Do I think anyone can lead a completely celibate life? No. But one can try. I have never and will never say "it's okay to be Gay according to Orthodox Judaism." It is not. And this is why I struggle every day.
I do not regret coming out. I am still happy with the decision to let the world know of the struggle of homosexuality and Judaism. However, it is still a struggle. And it is not okay to go against the Torah, no matter what our hearts desire.
There's plenty more to come"(http://curiousjew.blogspot.com/2009/10/to-be-orthodox-homosexual-jew.html#3514104957788183216)

I also would like call your attention to
Jackie Aldama blog. I loved. I have a advancer to people who think that to be different today is being normal. The important is to be happy.

Why?

Why discrimination if we are from the same font of love? Why do we need to separate people for color, country or religion? When we are going to accept one another like brother and sisters, independent of our genetic or anything. Been part of the group called LGBT is not different of been a woman, black, withe or many other characteristic in a place where people look to you and chose that you are not from this area or you are less then they are.
All us came from the love of two people and same of us grow up in the love of this people. Other of us came from a difficult situation and did not have the love the all being deserve. However all of us came from the action of make love. The action that the nature made to make us what we are. We are made by water, earth, air and heat. Our chose to be out of they said it is normal do not make sense, because we are what we are and nobody can change this.

Shame on the Olympic officials.

On Friday February 12 an young boy died after crashing into a support post. The sport's international governing body came to a media telling that he was responsible for his own death. Kumaritashvili was his name and he was 21 years old. He can not tell as what happen and what we can do for make better. He can not defend himself.
My question is: why is it so difficult to assume their fault? Why is it so difficult to say that in the track had a shortcoming? Do we really need someone to die to make changes?
How many will be necessary to die in the word for us to assume our fault? Why is it so problematic to say: I made a mistake?
Think about it.
Start today to look at you and see your defects after show other's people defects.
Let's assume our shortcoming!

My point of view of being woman in America or around the world!

After watch the song of Aretha Franklin "Respect" and making comparison with Beyonce song "Single Ladies" I made a conclusion that :
In the past, Women didn't have voice as a member of the society. The Woman were only a person whom clean the house, cooked the food and give children to the husband. In this era woman didn't have chance to work as a contribute with the domestic cost, making the woman total dependable in her husband or in her parents before the marriage. It is interesting to think and make the comparison with today days where the woman have same education as a men. However, it is not the reality in all world.
In this two songs we can see that the women years ago were try to have same respect from her husband when she got home. In the actual song, we hear that the women can do what they want without to worry the men think.
I wrote a paper lest year about the "A Jury of Her Peer" I would like to share my conclusion in this paper about yesterday women and today women.

Jury of Her Peer

In today's world it is probably difficult for a young women to imagine the time when women's rule were not as men. However, some women still living in this condition. Unfortunately, some traditions around the world still repressing women. It can be her family or her husband. They need to follow the rule if the woman break the rule, they can be severely punish. Women and children around the world remain at unacceptably high risk of domestic abuse or without voice. A big part are married women, who have experienced physically and mentally abuse from their husbands. Only a small percent of these women consulted with police or a hospital and other percent turn the problem until her death. Domestic violence and abuse can happen to anyone, since the problem is often overlooked. This is especially true when the abuse is psychological, rather than physical. It is possible to find help today, however it can be part of the culture and we can not to intervene, only if the person ask for help or want to be out the tradition.

Being a women in America is to have same rule as men. It is to be hear by the low. It is to have choice to do what you want.
It is to have freedom.

The State of the Union Address.

I became a little unhappy with President Obama. In the beguine. I thought that he was not pushing so hard to the health reform. Latter, When he came to the media and said that he was sending 30 thousand soldiers to Afghanistan. I became really unhappy with him. I started to ask myself: Why people need to build control thought the war? Obama's should be different. Why is he still giving life to this war? Why is U.S. still build the history making more war? Is it not enough all the life that had been gone? Where do we are going to do something different? How many more is it necessary to die for us to make a difference?
I need to have hope that Obama will make the difference and that all the people and government that look to U.S like a example it will have a really good mirror.
I still praying for that one day I will hear that U.S and many other counties in same situation is in peace with the world and nobody is trying to attack and kill innocent people.
Until there let's help Obama spend money and time to rebuild a decent world for everybody. Let's make the congress hear our voice and scream for change now!
Give a look and see how we can do a difference: http://seminal.firedoglake.com/diary/28558.
