Green Valley Samaritans:
Saving Human Lives in the Southern Arizona Desert
Humanitarian activist Shura Wallin, of the Green Valley Samaritans, will be sharing stories about the ordeals of millions who cross into the United States through the Sonoran Desert at the U.S.-Mexico border. The Samaritans offer water, food, and first aid to migrants found suffering from heat stroke, exhaustion, dehydration, and minor injuries. They also conduct basura (trash) runs to gather migrant possessions left behind in the desert, some of which Shura Wallin will bring to her presentation.
This event is part of Professor DavĂd Carrasco’s course, “Religious Dimensions in Human Experience.”
All are welcome.
